The Journey of Mathakadara
The origin of Mathakadara (Pvt) Ltd dates back to 2020 when a courageous young farmer took a brave decision to cultivate pomegranates in one of the most rural places in Sri Lanka: Mathakadara, Tissamaharama. Mathakadara Pomegranates started its first online venture in 2021 as a fresh fruit-selling platform through Facebook.
In 2022, Mathakadara began making value-added products using various parts of the pomegranate fruit. In 2023, we opened our factory in Kawantissapura, Tissamaharama, as the first pomegranate product manufacturing factory in Sri Lanka. Today, there are over 18 pomegranate-based products manufactured by Mathakadara.
Our products are divided into two categories: Food & Beverage and Skin & Hair Care. When it comes to food and beverages, we strive to make products with zero chemicals, addressing the growing concern over health issues related to chemical consumption. Mathakadara takes pride in its commitment to manufacturing natural skincare products that pose no health risks to the skin.
Health-conscious consumers are the primary target market for Mathakadara. We are fully committed to provide health-boosting products by utilizing different parts of the pomegranate, a superfood tree.
Our main product is a 100% pure pomegranate juice bottle, named Matha Prana, which we introduced to the market as an alternative to fresh pomegranate fruits during the off-season.
All our products are manufactured in a Sri Lanka Standards approved GMP-certified facility, ensuring strict hygiene, safety, and quality control at every stage. From sourcing ingredients to final packaging, we follow certified processes that guarantee purity, consistency, and trusted excellence.

Asika is a young, dynamic, Innovative and courageous agri entrepreneur who thinks out of the box to explore new market opportunities. He built the first and only pomegranate company in Sri Lanka from scratch. He is extremely passionate about contributing to the production economy of the country and to save foreign currency by minimizing importing of pomegranate into the island.
Asika is also deeply committed to social impact and community empowerment. He founded “I Pay for You,” a heartfelt donation program that supports cancer patients across the country. Beyond his work in agriculture, Asika is a public speaker and a lawyer, inspiring others through his vision and leadership. He also launched the “I Create 1000 Jobs” initiative, aimed at empowering youth and strengthening Sri Lanka’s local workforce through sustainable employment opportunities.
