Sustainability
Our Commitment to a Better Tomorrow
The origin of Mathakadara (Pvt) Ltd dates back to 2020 when a courageous young farmer took a brave decision to cultivate pomegranates in one of the most rural places in Sri Lanka: Mathakadara, Tissamaharama. Mathakadara Pomegranates started its first online venture in 2021 as a fresh fruit-selling platform through Facebook.
In 2022, Mathakadara began making value added products using various parts of the pomegranate fruit. In 2023, we opened our factory in Kawantissapura, Tissamaharama, as the first pomegranate product manufacturing factory in Sri Lanka. Today, there are over 18 pomegranate-based products manufactured by Mathakadara.
Creating Opportunities, Changing Lives
Through the “I Create 1000 Jobs” program, Asika is transforming lives by providing meaningful employment opportunities to people in rural areas, especially within his own village. What began as a vision to empower his community has now grown into a mission to create lasting change. By identifying local skills and nurturing them through training, mentorship, and fair employment, the program not only helps individuals earn a stable income but also restores dignity and hope among rural families. This initiative plays a vital role in reducing unemployment, curbing migration to urban areas, and strengthening the rural economy turning local talent into sustainable livelihoods and paving the way for a self-reliant future.
Building Bridges Through Global Education
We proudly offer internship programs for foreign students, welcoming young minds from around the world to experience life in Sri Lanka’s agricultural heartland. These programs provide hands on learning in sustainable farming, community development, and agri entrepreneurship, guided by Asika and his dedicated team. Beyond the fields, interns are given comfortable accommodation within the village, allowing them to immerse themselves in local culture and daily life. This cross-cultural exchange not only enriches their personal and professional growth but also strengthens global understanding of Sri Lanka’s commitment to sustainable agricultural innovation.

Developing Our Roots
Asika’s vision goes beyond business. By investing in local infrastructure, education, and skill development, he helps transform his village into a thriving, self reliant community. Every step we take contributes to building a stronger foundation for future generations.
A Heartfelt Cause to Support Cancer Patients
“I Pay for You” is a donation initiative founded by Asika to support cancer patients across the nation. Through this program, customers, partners, and kind hearted donors can contribute to bringing hope and relief to those in need.
Our Sustainable Farming Practices
We follow environmentally friendly farming methods that prioritize the health of both our crops and the planet. By minimizing waste, conserving water, and enriching the soil through natural practices, we ensure that every step of our cultivation process is in harmony with nature. Each pomegranate is carefully nurtured from seed to harvest without the use of harmful chemicals or practices that damage the ecosystem. For us, sustainability isn’t just a routine or requirement; it’s a deeply rooted philosophy that shapes every decision we make, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the richness of the land we cultivate today.
Eco-Friendly Farming
We use natural farming methods that protect the soil, conserve water, and reduce chemical use to ensure a healthy, sustainable harvest.
Zero Waste Production
Every part of the pomegranate is utilized from fruit to peel minimizing waste and creating by-products that benefit both people and the planet.
Renewable Energy Use
We integrate renewable energy sources to power our operations, reducing our carbon footprint and promoting a cleaner environment.
Community Empowerment
By creating jobs and supporting local families, we help strengthen rural communities and build a sustainable, inclusive future.
